Essay Format – The Algorithm of an Essay!

Follow This Essay Format to Give Life to Your Essay!…

Introduction

People have been writing essays since childhood. But do we know what an essay exactly is? Well, it is nothing but a short piece of writing that is usually written from the author’s own point of view. To write any essay, you should know the basic rules to be followed. The essay format is applicable to all kinds of essays.

Any essay has three parts. They are the following:

  • • Introduction
  • • Main Body
  • • Conclusion
  • These three parts are found in any essay. The essay topic is also equally important. It is more with the title that people decide whether to read your essay or not. So it must be very attractive. The title must not be too long with too many words. People will get bored before they read it! Your title must be short, simple and effective and also convey the essence of the essay.

    The introduction

The introduction is the first part of an essay. It is a brief summary of the entire essay. This is where the topic is introduced to the readers. The writer conveys what the essay is all about. So, the introduction should be to the point. One should not beat about the bush. The opinions and ideas must be clear. Repetition of ideas must be avoided. Therefore the introduction must be made interesting so the readers continue reading your essay.

    Main Body

The main body, as the name suggests, is the most important part of the essay. This part should contain at least three main points around which the entire essay revolves. The subject should be explored and valid reasons and justifications must be given (depending upon the types of essays) to prove that your opinion about something is right or wrong. If it’s a narrative essay, there is no need to justify anything as all you write is a sequence of events or your personal beliefs and opinions. Again, in the main body, care should be taken to see that the points mentioned are not vague. Ideas should be conveyed clearly, without confusing the readers. Listing you points could also increase the readability. You can also highlight important points so that people can notice it easily. Therefore the main body of an essay is the place where you discuss the core points of the essay.

    The Conclusion

The conclusion is the final part of an essay. This is where you sum up all the points discussed in the main body and bring it to the readers’ attention once again. There are many ways to write an essay conclusion. You can end the essay by putting a question to the readers, or give a humorous ending and so on. The decision is left to the writer. However, you must keep in mind that the conclusion is what triggers a thought in the readers. So, you should make it short but effective.

This is the rule or essay format that is usually followed. But some say that rules are formed to be broken! You can also write it in a different way but this basic format is accepted by all as it achieves maximum readability.
